Trailer Relay Isolation Package Installation Instructions
Place the motorcycle on solid level ground.
Disconnect the ground terminal at the battery.
NOTE: In order to use the Trailer Relay Isolation Package you must use a sub harness.
Sub Harness Installation
Attach the Sub harness to the motorcycle – If you purchased the Harley Sub Harness, remove your seat and find the plug that matches the plug on your sub harness unplug it and plug the sub harness in between the plugs on your motorcycle...
If you purchased the Universal Sub harness you will need to locate the wires that run to your rear lights and splice into them using the 4 T-taps and connectors. Connect the universal sub harness as follows: Green running lights Brown – left turn Yellow – right turn Blue –brake lights
5 Wire Trailer Installations
Plug the Isolator into the sub harness and attach a plug that matches the plug on your trailer to the outputs on the isolator.
The outputs on the trailer relay isolator are as follows: Green – running lights Brown – left turn Yellow – right turn Blue – brake light Black – ground
Attach the fused lead wire to the red wire from the isolator using the supplied butt connector and a ring connector to the other end of the fuse lead and the black ground wire. Attach the ring connector on the red wire to the positive battery terminal and the ring connector on the black wire to the ground.
Attach your trailer. Reconnect the battery. Install the main 30 amp fuse. Test lights on the trailer and reassemble the motorcycle. Check for sufficient slack on the wiring so when the motorcycle and trailer turn the wiring will not be disconnected.
4 Wire Trailer Installations
If your trailer has combined turn/brake lights or a 4 pin harness you will need to use the Trailer Converter for 4 wire Trailers EC07664. The converter will plug in between the sub harness and the isolator.
There is only one direction it will install. Use the supplied ring terminal and ground the black wire Because only 3 of the 4 relays will be used, you may use the additional relay to power any accessory of your choice up to 7.5 amps (maximum draw). To do this, connect the following: White wire – connect to switched + to turn the relay on. Blue wire from the trailer relay output to your accessory.
Plug the Isolator into the converter and attach a plug that matches the plug on your trailer to the outputs on the isolator.
The outputs on the trailer relay isolator are as follows: Green – running lights Brown – left turn and brake Yellow – right turn and brake Blue – optional accessory output Black – ground
Attach the fused lead wire to the red wire from the isolator using the supplied butt connector and a ring connector to the other end of the fuse lead and the black ground wire. Attach the ring connector on the red wire to the positive battery terminal and the ring connector on the black wire to the ground
Attach your trailer. Reconnect the battery. Install the main 30 amp fuse. Test lights on the trailer and reassemble the motorcycle. Check for sufficient slack on the wiring so when the motorcycle and trailer turn the wiring will not be disconnected.
